FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Driggs, Idaho – July 10, 2023- The Teton Valley Bear Wise (TVBW) program has been awarded a Conservation Partners grant from the Vital Grounds Foundation. TVBW is a community-led effort that is focused on reducing future conflicts between humans and bears within Teton Valley, Idaho. The program was started after the unfortunate killing of bear 1089 and her two cubs by Idaho Fish and Game near Tetonia, Idaho in November 2022. The Vital Grounds foundation works to protect and restore grizzly bear populations for future generations by conserving wildlife habitat and by supporting programs that reduce conflicts between bears and humans. The grant will be used for outreach and to provide conflict prevention materials for both residents and visitors living and recreating with the Teton Valley and surrounding areas with the goal of reducing future bear conflicts in the Teton Valley. TVBW is sponsored by the Teton Geo Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a centrally-located hub offering information and education on all aspects of Teton Valley – past, present, and future.
